An acrimonious divorce had left a successful property developer facing bankruptcy and a bleak future.  Much of their wealth had “vanished” as a result of the divorce proceedings, leaving them in desperate circumstances and unable to continue in what, prior to the divorce, had been a profitable business enterprise.
